Low-volume production (also called bridge manufacturing) is the sweet spot between one-off prototyping and full mass production. Typical order quantities are 100–10,000 pieces — enough to support a product launch, a regional rollout, or a niche product line, without the cost and lead time of hard tooling.

When Low-Volume CNC Is the Right Choice

  • Pre-launch production. 500–2,000 pieces to seed inventory while injection molds are being made.

What quantities qualify as low-volume production?
Low-volume typically runs from 100 to 10,000 pieces per batch. We also support annual contracts with scheduled monthly deliveries of 5,000–20,000 pieces per month — in that range we are essentially running scheduled production.
How does the price compare to mass production?
Low-volume CNC pricing is higher per piece than injection molding at very high volumes (50,000+), but the total program cost is often lower because you avoid tooling investment ($10,000–$100,000+). For quantities below 10,000 parts, CNC is almost always more economical than molded parts.
Can you ship on a recurring schedule?
Yes. Most of our low-volume customers operate on monthly or quarterly releases. We hold a finished-goods buffer, run Kanban-style restocking, and ship to your warehouse or directly to your customer.
How do you ensure batch-to-batch consistency?
Three things: (1) a dedicated fixture and program per part number, (2) first-article inspection with CMM at program launch, and (3) in-process checks with calibrated gauges. Every shipment includes an inspection report.
Can I make design changes mid-program?
Yes. Because there is no hard tooling, you can revise the design at any time. Most changes between batches cost nothing if features remain the same — we just update the program and re-cut a first article for approval.
