What Is CNC Milling?

CNC milling is a subtractive machining process where rotating cutting tools remove material from a fixed workpiece to create precise features — pockets, slots, threads, sculptured surfaces and tight-tolerance bores. It is the backbone process for most custom metal and plastic parts.

What is the difference between 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis milling?
3-axis milling moves on X, Y and Z — best for prismatic parts. 4-axis adds rotation around one axis for multi-face machining. 5-axis machines complex geometries in a single setup, improving accuracy and reducing lead time for curved or angled features.
What tolerance can CNC milling achieve?
Standard milling tolerance is ±0.05mm. With 5-axis equipment and proper fixturing we hold ±0.01mm on critical features depending on geometry and material.
How much does CNC milling cost?

Milling vs. turning — which do I need?
